In the township the population was spread out, with 25.6% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.15. 19.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. There were 1,292 households, out of which 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.8% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.1% were non-families. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.30% of the population. The racial makeup of the township was 98.96% White, 0.27% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.22% from other races, and 0.33% from two or more races. There were 1,358 housing units at an average density of 44.6 per square mile (17.2/km 2). The population density was 120.0 inhabitants per square mile (46.3/km 2).
